Volunteer UA: Where Communities & Good Causes Connect!
An exciting partnership of five Upper Arlington community organizations is working to promote and cultivate the many volunteer needs and opportunities that support and enrich our day-to-day lives. As such, the committee has expanded Volunteer UA from an annual Expo to a year-round resource for residents seeking volunteer opportunities as well as non-profit organizations who seek to improve their efforts. In February 2008, a breakfast brainstorming session took place with non-profit representatives to identify challenges in an effort to improve their organizations. During this session, media relations was a hot topic for improvement. The committee then planned an expert lunch panel discussion, which took place in July 2008. The panelists were representatives from local media outlets, who gave their perspectives on improving the promotion of non-profit organizations, as well as answered questions from audience members. It will be held in the Municipal Services Center and will take place from 4-7 p.m. A Volunteer UA presentation, including keynote speaker Margie Pizzuti, CEO of Goodwill Columbus, will help promote and encourage volunteerism in and around the community.
