Take Mosquito Control Personally
Tips for Reducing Mosquitoes in Your Backyard
You can do your part to assist in the City’s mosquito population reduction efforts this summer, to minimize the need for any truck-based fogging.
Standing water is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. If there are places around your home or yard where water collects, such as water-holding containers or ornamental ponds, you may be raising mosquitoes.
Here are a few tips to help eliminate the mosquito population in your yard:
· Empty, remove, cover or turn upside down, any receptacle that has the potential to hold water
· Clean bird baths twice weekly
· Discard old tires or store them indoors
· Repair leaky plumbing and outside faucets
· Make sure gutters and downspouts are free of blockage and properly draining
· Fill holes in trees with sand
· Empty your pets water dishes daily
· Drain or fill low areas on your property that hold water for more than three days
