Every effort was made to take full advantage of the fall weather, so that the community could enjoy its new aquatics facility on time in June 2005.

No sooner did Hastings Pool close for the season, than the demolition crews moved in. By early October, the layout of the new pool was beginnig to take shape. One month on and wooden forms helping to define the edge of the pool were in place. Crews were beginning to pour a gravel base into the pool and concrete in some areas. By mid-November preparation for underground water and plumbing was making great strides in preparation for pouring concrete to form the base of the pool.

Beyond the pool itself, much progress had been made with setting pool house foundations, and installing sanitary and storm sewers and underground gas, water and plumbing.

Fast forward to March, and the pool had really taken shape, with the final concrete pours nearing completion. The buildings also were moving forward on schedule, with roofing materials in place and interior work underway.

By early April the slides were in place, and the week of April 11 marked a big test for the pool. It was filled with water to check for any leaks or other possible issues, passing the test with flying colors.

The final weeks were a whirl of activity to make sure no details had been overlooked.

The City thanks everyone involved in this exciting project. From the residents who helped us envision what the new pool could be to the many design and construction crews involved, as well as City Council, the Pool Subcommittee and Staff.
