Pool Rules and Policies
Pools Rules
General Rules -
1. Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or qualified caregiver.
2. Swimpants are required at all facilities for children who are not toilet trained.
3. Possession or use of alcohol on pool grounds is prohibited.
4. Possession or use of illegal drugs or substances on pool grounds is prohibited.
5. Possession of firearms on pool grounds is prohibited.
6. Smoking on pool grounds is prohibited.
7. No prolonged underwater swimming or breath holding.
8. Do not talk with the lifeguards while they are in the chair. Refer questions to the pool office.
9. All swimmers must wear bathing suits. Cut-offs or athletic shorts are not proper bathing attire.
10. Spitting in water or on pool deck is prohibited.
11. Running, rough play, and personal conduct endangering the safety and well being of self and others is prohibited.
12. Dunking or holding others underwater is prohibited.
13. Glass bottles and containers are not permitted.
14. Pets are not permitted on pool grounds.
15. Diving in the shallow water areas of the main pool or the wading pool is prohibited.
16. Back dives or flips from the side of the main pool or the wading pool are prohibited.
17. Swimming in the diving area is prohibited.
18. Swimmers using the diving area or other deep-water areas must be able to swim one length of the lap lane with out stopping and tread water for 30 seconds.
19. Flotation devices are not permitted in deep water areas.
20. Use of rafts, tubes, and other flotation devices is restricted when the swimming load is heavy.
21. Parent or other adult must accompany a child using the wading pool.
22. When attendance at any swimming facility meets bather capacity, admission to the facility will be temporarily suspended. If bather capacity is reached, season pass holders will be given priority to enter the facility as others leave, followed by daily admissions.
23. Rainchecks are issued for severe weather and unforeseen emergencies to daily admissions guest who have been at the pool less than two hours.
Slide Area Rules -
1. Follow all directions provided by the slide attendant.
2. No jewelry is permitted on the slides.
3. Slide users must be a minimum of 48” in height.
4. Slide users may not exceed 300 pounds.
5. Do not stand on the stairs.
6. Only two [2] individuals are permitted on each slide landing at one time.
7. Move to the next landing only when directed to by the slide attendant.
Current Channel Rules -
1. Enter the current channel only at the west stairs or from the east entry.
2. Always move with the current.
3. Do not stop in the current channel
4. All infants must be carried in front of the adult.
Business Policies
Family Pass - Issued to any two adults and/or their dependent children. Both adults must live at same address.
Dependent Children - Unmarried, under 24 years, living at home, or foster children with verification.
Pools Guest Pass - Guest Passes must be purchased by a passholder and the passholder must accompany the guest. Allows 20 guest visits to Devon and Tremont or 10 visits to Reed Road Water Park. Good only for the 2008 season. Unused visits are not refundable or transferable.
Proof of Residency - Residency pertains those who live or work in Upper Arlington. Please provide a copy of utility bill, lease, deed, pay stub, or tax records.
Refund Policy - No credits or refunds ar issued on or after the day a program or swim lesson starts. We are unable to accommodate requests based on family emergencies, business travel, or changes to your personal or work schedule. If you are unable to participate in a program or swim lesson session due to a personal medical condition, you must provide a physician’s statement on the physician’s office letterhead stating the medical condition and restrictions. Consideration for a refund/credit voucher is made on a case-by-case basis. A decision is made within five (5) business days of receiving the physician’s statement. A processing fee of $5.00 is assessed for all registrations canceled due to a medical condition.
Swimming and Tennis Hardship Termination - All swimming and tennis pass sales are final except when hardship criteria can be documented. Requests for Hardship Termination are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must be submitted in writing to the Aquatics and Park Facilities Manager. All passes must be attached to the written request. Season pass fees may be refunded or issued as a credit voucher and are prorated from the start of the season regardless of use. Requests will not be accepted after August 10, 2008. A processing fee of $5.00 is assessed for all hardship requests.
The following criteria must be met to qualify for a Hardship Termination:
• Personal medical condition - provide a physician’s statement on the physician’s office letterhead stating the medical condition and restrictions.
• Relocation - outside a 25-mile radius of the Municipal Services Center -provide proof of relocation - deed or lease agreement.
• Patron death - copy of Death Certificate or obituary.
