Policies

CONFIRMATION – LifeLong Learning and Leisure does not automatically issue course confirmations or receipts. Please attend your class choice as scheduled unless otherwise notified. We contact you only if a class is cancelled or filled prior to our receipt of your registration. If you need a receipt, please request one at the time of registration.

NON-RESIDENT FEE – The Upper Arlington resident or a person working in Upper Arlington makes a significant contribution to the financing and operation of the Parks & Recreation Department through the City’s property and income taxes. Our non-resident policy has been developed to equalize the registration fee so that non-residents contribute to the overall financing on an equitable basis with residents. Students who do not live or work in the City of Upper Arlington pay an extra 10% in their registration fees.

DISCOUNTS – Senior citizens, 60 years of age and over, receive a 10% discount on class fees. Date of birth must be provided at the time of registration to be eligible for the discount.

AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT – In accordance with Americans With Disabilities Act, program registrants who have a disability are asked to contact the LifeLong Learning & Leisure office at least two weeks in advance of the starting date of the program to discuss any special accommodations or adaptations for participation in the program.

AGE REQUIREMENT – LifeLong Learning & Leisure programs are designed for adults 18 years and older unless otherwise noted.

WEATHER CONDITIONS – If the Upper Arlington School District closes due to inclement weather, all day and evening LifeLong Learning & Leisure classes that are held in Upper Arlington school buildings are cancelled. Cancellation of classes held in other locations is determined on an individual basis. Decisions regarding weather cancellations for evening classes are made by 3:00 PM each day. To check the status of your class, call our office during business hours or after hours call the automated Parks & Recreation Hotline at 583-5345.
Outdoor classes often have scheduled rain dates. Please make sure that you can attend the original class date as well as the published rain date. Refunds/vouchers are not issued to students who cannot attend a published rain date.

CANCELLATIONS
IF WE CANCEL – LifeLong Learning & Leisure reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollments or other unforeseen circumstances. Students are notified and full refunds are given. Credit card refunds are issued the day the class is cancelled; check refunds may take up to 30 days from the date the course is cancelled.

IF YOU CANCEL – To cancel a registration, you must contact the LifeLong Learning & Leisure office as instructors are not authorized to issue refunds or credits.

MISSED CLASSES – Due to the structure of our program we cannot provide make ups for classes missed.

REFUNDS – Refunds (less a $5 processing fee per class) are given by check or credit to your credit card if we are contacted by the end of our office hours, five full business days in advance of the start date of the class.

CREDITS – If you contact our office less than 5 full business days in advance of the start date, but before the day the class begins, a LifeLong Learning & Leisure credit voucher (less a $5 processing fee per class) is issued. For weekend classes, notice must be given by the end of office hours on the last business day prior to the start of class. Credit vouchers may not be redeemed for cash but may be applied toward LifeLong Learning & Leisure registration fees. Credit vouchers are not transferable and are valid for one year from the date of issue. You are mailed a copy of your credit voucher for your records. To redeem your credit voucher, you must mention it at the time of registration. No credits or refunds are issued on the day of class or thereafter. We are unable to honor requests based on family emergencies, business travel or changes to your personal or work schedule.

Please note that our office, along with all other City of Upper Arlington offices, is closed on all federal holidays. If you are unable to participate in your class due to a personal medical condition, we can consider your request for a refund or credit (less a $5 processing fee per class) if you provide our office with a physician’s statement on official letterhead. We review your request and make a decision within five business days of receipt regarding a refund or credit voucher.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION POLICY – The goal of LifeLong Learning & Leisure is to provide high quality programs to the community we serve. While we are proud of the fact that most of our students report a high level of satisfaction with our courses, we recognize our responsibility to those whose class did not fulfill their legitimate expectations. If upon completion of your class, you feel that your class was not satisfactory or was not as described in the course catalog, please inform our staff in writing. Your request must be postmarked within five business days of the last date of the class. We review your comments and make a decision within five business days of receipt regarding a refund or credit voucher.

PRIVACY STATEMENT – Your privacy is our priority. Your personal information is used for administrative purposes within our office and is shared with your instructor. We do not sell your information to any outside vendors or groups.

Photo Release – Photographs are occasionally taken of Parks & Recreation activities, including LifeLong Learning & Leisure classes, for use in future promotions. By registering for any LifeLong Learning & Leisure activity, you agree to allow publication of photos taken during class. If you prefer not to be photographed, please notify the photographer.
