LifeLong Learning & Leisure

A division of the Parks & Recreation Department, LifeLong Learning & Leisure is recognized as the largest non-credit adult education program in Central Ohio. The division coordinates more than 500 fun and educational classes to the community each year. Fully funded by its programming, LifeLong Learning & Leisure provides a variety of programs within the following categories:


Online Courses –We are now offering a wide range of highly interactive courses that you can take entirely over the Internet. All of our courses include expert instructors, many of whom are nationally known authors. Our online courses are affordable, fun, fast, convenient, and geared just for you. Enrichment – classes that show you how to manage your time and your environment, how to trace and preserve your family history, and offer travel tips and suggestions. Learn the fun and wacky art of improv comedy; explore the world of life coaching; learn insider tips on taking back your space and making it an organized haven.

Travel & Language – Travel classes take you from China to England or even France. Language classes teach the basics and up in French, Italian, and Spanish.

Self Care & Health – Take a proactive approach to your health, from current health issues to learning the benefits of laughter yoga, stretching, massage and meditation.

Music & Dance – Get your feet tapping with group dance lessons including ballroom and line dancing, belly dancing and tap. Learn how to play the guitar or the mountain dulcimer.

Fine Art – "Brush" up on your painting skills, or master a variety of media such as pottery, calligraphy and photography.

Crafts – Learn a new hobby in a fun hands-on format. Classes include needlepoint, digital scrapbooking and soapmaking. If you're looking to keep your hands busy, try creating a fused glass pendant or hand-designed sterling silver ring.

Home & Garden – Looking to "do it yourself"? Try one of our new classes offered in the Home Repair Series. Are you trying to sell your home, but not having any luck? Why not take our Spring Cleaning With a Purpose class and learn what you can do to stage your house the feng-shui way. Urban Gardener is back and ready to dig in with you for spring.

Food & Drink – There are always new recipes to try with hands-on cooking classes that cater to the beginner as well as the more experienced cook. A series of wine tasting classes help educate the palette on the subleties between different grapes from across the globe.

Business & Finance – Gain tips on how to spend your money, invest in a bear market, learn about Health Savings Accounts and understand how you feel about money.

Computers – A range of classes that show the beginner how to get started and teach users the tricks and shortcuts of various software applications.

Bridge – Become a master of the game of Bridge through this series of workshops and supervised bridge games designed to suit all levels of players.

Sports – Discover scuba without committing to a full certification course. Take advantage of some fresh, open-air fun and learn to sail. Or join in and try golf, tennis, aikido or tae kwon do.

Fitness – an extensive range of fitness classes are sure to keep you motivated, including Yoga, spinning, weight training, aerobics classes and more. Try Zumba for some high-impact moves and combinations.
