*Handcrafted OSU Coaster and Trivet Set
with Susi Crommes
Show your Buckeye spirit at your next game party. This is a fun craft and so easy to do. Decorate ceramic tiles, 4” x 4” for the four coasters and 6” x 6” for a trivet to match. Using paper enhanced with your own personalized design, a user-friendly felt bottom and your imagination, you can create a handcrafted party set, perfect for any OSU sport season or gift-giving to a favorite fan. Of course if your creative vision is not tied to sports, you can design anything else that strikes your fancy. Sample sets are available for viewing and participants need to bring a pair of scissors. All supplies are included in the registration fee.

The In’s and Out’s of Needlepoint
with Judy Lytle, What's The Point?
The ever-expanding world of needlepoint is filled with a variety of choices and is invitingly addictive for interested crafters. Join the colorful craze and learn simple needlepoint basics in this fun-filled hands-on class, held at a needlepoint craft store where project ideas and purchasing possibilities abound. Receive an overview of needlepoint canvases and their uses, available fibers and accessories. Learn the proper way to start and stop a fiber and successfully change colors in a pattern, as well as the basketweave and continental stitches, which are commonly used in every needlepoint canvas. The teaching piece is a 4” x 4” hand-painted canvas and students may choose from three color palettes. The instructor provides examples of finished products so the canvas can be finished at home after the conclusion of the class. Bring a pair of small scissors. Supplies are purchased at the first class for $28.

*Crochet Basics
with Joyce Lewis, The Yarn Shop
Learn and practice the techniques of this versatile craft and explore a variety of innovative trends in the world of crochet. View a wide-ranging selection of materials and patterns available for purchase. Crochet is fast and easy to master, with many diverse applications. We begin working with worsted weight yarn to learn the basic stitches of single, double and treble chain. Then read and follow a simple pattern to complete a project of your choice, taking advantage of hands-on assistance from the instructor in a small group setting. A crochet hook, practice yarn and an instructional booklet are included in the registration fee.

Natural Soapmaking
with Kyonson Pae, Earth Elements
Learn to make vegetable-based soap from all natural ingredients. Various fresh herbs and spices are added for color, scent and decoration. This is a healthier option than commercial soaps and these distinctive bars make great gifts. All supplies are included in the registration fee.

*Fused Glass Pendants
with Alicia McGinty
Get a unique, hands-on introduction to the art and process of fusing glass during this one-session class. Glass cutting and grinding techniques are taught, types and varieties of glass, and COE are discussed. Kiln use is also covered. Students are shown how to create small jewelry-size pendants and then design and make six original pieces. These include a signature pendant piece which features a horizontal stringing channel for use with your own chain. All pieces are fired at the end of class and are available for pickup at the LifeLong Learning & Leisure office the following week. Arrangements for this are finalized the evening of the class. Students also get the opportunity to watch a tack-fuse and a full-fuse firing in our kiln onsite. Supplies, including silver bails for the pendants, are purchased from the instructor for $35 at the class.
