Parks & Forestry

The Division of Parks & Forestry is responsible for the maintenance of City parks, landscapes, gateways and public lands, caring for more than 17,000 park and street trees, and countless active and passive recreational facilities within the parks, such as playgrounds, athletic fields and shelterhouses. The division provides special event assistance for events that include the Labor Day Arts Festival, Fourth of July Celebration, Farmers’ Market and Taste of UA.

Street Trees
The division performs street tree pruning on a six-year cycle or as needed (upon resident request). New street tree planting takes place as resources are available, often using grant monies. Residents may order street trees through the Upper Arlington Tree Commission’s Cost Share Program.

Tree City USA
Upper Arlington has been a Tree City USA since 1990. This national award is presented to communities that demonstrate a strong commitment to managing and maintaining their urban forests. As part of its Tree City USA status, each year the City celebrates Arbor Day in April by planting a tree at a local school.

Commemorative Park Bench Program
This program enables residents to donate a park bench in honor or memory of an individual, place or event that is significant to them.

Commemorative Tree Program
A program of the Upper Arlington Tree Commission, the Commemorative Tree Program enables residents to donate trees for planting in parks or other public places in memory or in honor of an individual, place or event.

Horticulture & Beautification
The division implemented a horticulture program in 2003 to facilitate the goals of the City's Master Plan which calls for a wide range of functional and asthetic streetscape improvements. The City beautification program which is funded through sponsorship, provides a detailed outline for significant public landscape enhancements throughout our community.

Upper Arlington Garden Council
The Upper Arlington Garden Council provides assistance to the City and acts as a governing committe to Upper Arlington's three garden clubs (Twin Rivers, Four Seasons, and Serendipity). Members of these garden clubs have adopted and maintain several public gardens throughout the City and enjoy a wide range of workshops and programs throughout the year. Visit our link within Horticulture & Beautification for more detail and membership information.
