The Cultural Arts Division offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for the community to be involved, from office administration assistance to helping run the division’s events and exhibits. We will match your interests to our needs, your schedule to our opportunities. Events/Receptions - The Cultural Arts Division promotes numerous arts-related events each year, from Music in the Parks series of free outdoor summer concerts to the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival, artist receptions in the Concourse Gallery to participating in community events to promote the arts. Volunteer opportunities include assistance with set up and break down, greeting guests, promoting the programs of the Commission, and more. Office Assistants - Help Staff with a variety of office tasks, including newsletter and promotional mailings, planning and executing the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival, and installing exhibits in the Concourse Gallery. One of the most well-documented benefits of volunteering is that it expands a person’s social network. People with strong social systems tend to be in better overall health than those who spend most of their time alone. Several recent studies have shown that volunteering boosts levels of endorphins, brain chemicals that relieve stress and pain, and may play a role in lowering blood pressure.
