Through a partnership with the Parks and Forestry Division, the Cultural Arts Division presents Earthwork: Emerging Rangoli, an Arts in Community Spaces installation, designed and created collaboratively by artist Emily Cable and City Horticulturist Lisa Huddy, is a permanent installation in city parkland adjacent to the Upper Arlington Public Library. Inspired from travels through India, Emily creates the work reflecting an art form called Rangoli that is practiced throughout India.

Rangoli
The art form native to women of India, Rangoli or Kollam, is intended as a prayer and auspicious blessing, passed down from one generation of women to the next. The Ranogli design Emily created fuses many various rangoli designs she witnessed while in temples, streets and churches of India. Rangoli uniquely reflects the woman creating the design; Emerging Rangoli is intended to honor three inspiring women she met in Bangalore, Chennai and Dehra Dun; Rosabelle, Ruby and Shivarani.
