Literary Arts

The Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Commission was created by an ordinance of City Council in 1972. Its mission is to provide and promote a diverse, lively, accessible arts environment that advances the cultural assets and enriches the quality of life of the community. The Commission fosters an appreciation for the arts and artists, creates and promotes public programs of the arts, and helps children in their development of creative skills and talents. It is divided into three major groups: performing arts, visual arts, and literary arts. The literary arts group was created in April 2004.

The Cultural Arts Commission is a branch of the Upper Arlington City government. It is governed by nine volunteer Commission members who are appointed by the mayor and approved by City Council. The function of the commission is to: set broad objectives; determine the scope and selection of programs; develop long-range plans; and provide strong programmatic or financial support either directly or through soliciting support from others. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 P.M. and are open to the public. The Commission encourages ideas and suggestions from the public.
