UA Arts

An important contributor to the Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Division, UA Arts is a Federal tax-exempt non-profit, educational, organization which promotes the arts in Upper Arlington and supports the work of the Upper Arlington Cultural Arts Division.

UA Arts funds various programming elements for the Cultural Arts Division including scholarships, elements of the Labor Day Arts Festival, Summer Concert Series, Concourse Gallery Exhibits and more.

Friends of the Arts - Rededicated as UA Arts
Sixteen years ago a group of concerned citizens and arts advocates established a volunteer group called The Friends of the Arts. The Friends of the Arts, (now known as UA Arts), is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization, that promotes the arts in Upper Arlington. Monies raised by the Friends of the Arts helps to fund Scholarships which are awarded annually to four high school students living in Upper Arlington who plan further study in the arts. The Friends of the Arts enhances our students’ experiences in the classroom through the City’s Arts in Community Education program that puts artists in the classrooms. The Concourse Gallery series of visual arts exhibits is supported by the Friends of the Arts, as is the series of free outdoor summer concerts. The Friends of the Arts also purchases two- and three-dimensional works of art to be included in the City’s Permanent Collection housed in the City’s Public and Municipal Services Centers. To help pay for all these wonderful artistic endeavors; The Friends of the Arts raises money through contributions and special fundraising projects.

How to Get Involved
Currently, the Friends of the Arts is going through a rededication process. The members are rebranding themselves UA Arts and looking to establish a board of progressive art enthusiasts eager to support the innovative cultural programming of the Cultural Arts Commission.

Meetings are held quarterly with project specific meetings held as necessary.

Positions require up to 20 hours of committee work leading up to the two fundraisers per year, and committee sizes vary according to workload.

Board Members will help realize the vision to become the leader in arts funding among Central Ohio communities and organizations. Experience in Social and Business networking; Food, Facilities and Hospitality; and Marketing and Public Relations are skills needed by the group.

If you are interested in joining this dynamic group, please contact President Andrew Miller at 614.457.5127 or the UA Arts voice mail at 614.583.5319.
