Board of Zoning & Planning Meeting

Monday, May 21, 2007

The Board of Zoning and Planning of Upper Arlington, Ohio welcomes all comments from the audience related to items on this agenda. Groups of residents who are interested in the same agenda items are encouraged to select a spokesperson for the purpose of addressing the Board. If you wish to participate in the open discussion of a particular item, please stand, be verbally recognized by the Chairman, state your name and address for the purpose of our records, be sworn in, and make your comments. Upon request to the City Clerk's office, special accommodations (i.e. interpreting services, audio recording, etc.) for persons with disabilities will be arranged for any City meeting open to the public. Requests for special accommodations should be submitted at least 72 hours in advance. Please call the City Clerk's office at 583-5032 for additional information.

I. Minutes

Review and approval of the April 16, 2007 BZAP and May 7, 2007 Work Session minutes and other reports and minutes. Approved as submitted.

II. Consent Agenda

Tom Griffin & Maureen Reedy 2777 Donna Drive
Request to permit the construction of a room addition that will encroach 1.5' into the 14.8'
east side yard setback rquired where the length of the side wall exceeds 40'. Approved.

Ms. Ellen C. Buckeridge 2731 Montcalm Road
Request of Mr. W. K. Harless, Cardinal Builders, on behalf of property owner, to permit the
construction of a room addition that will encroach 2'-4" into the required 29'-3" rear yard setback. Approved.

Mr. Luke Tuttle 2588 Donna Drive
Request to permit the expansion and enclosure of an existing screened porch so that it will
encroach 10.25' into the required 33.75' rear yard setback. Approved.

Mr. and Mrs. Brendan King 2805 Brandon Road
Request to permit the retention of a six foot high wooden fence that projects one-foot into
the platted 15' Ridgeview Road setback. Approved.

Mr. and Mrs. Chris Colgan 3910 Norbrook Drive
Request to permit the construction of a room addition that will encroach 7-1/2" into the 10'
required south side yard setback. Approved.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Munsell 1988Cambridge Blvd.
Request of Nicholson Builders, on behalf of property owners, to permit the replacement of
a front entry porch that projects five feet into the front yard setback and is nine feet wide,
in lieu of the four by eight foot projection permitted. Approved.

III. Variances/Conditional Uses

Mr. and Mrs. David Wolfe 1923 Stanford Road
Request to permit the construction of a room addition that will be located three feet from
the existing detached garage, in lieu of the ten-foot separation required. (See companion building cover request.) Approved.

Mr. and Mrs. David Wolfe 1923 Stanford Road
Request to permit the construction of a room addition that will result in 29.9% building
cover, in lieu of the 29% permitted. (See companion garage separation request.) Approved.

Mr. and Mrs. Josh Worrel 1685 Berkshire Road
Request to permit of a new attached garage that will encroach four feet into the ten foot
required south side yard setback. Approved.

IV. Development/Site Plans

UA Board of Education 2100 Arlington Avenue
Request of Architect Phillip Markwood, on behalf of the Upper Arlington Board of Education and Jones Middle School, for approval of an amendment to their Major Site Plan and variances to permit Coventry Road improvements including stone gateways, memorial plaza, fencing, and a gated dumpster enclosure. Approved.
