Welcome to the premier one-day arts festival in Ohio, the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival! Located in the 22 acres of Northam Park and presented by the City of Upper Arlington’s Cultural Arts Division, the Festival showcases the exceptional works of nearly 200 local, regional and national artists.
Throughout the day, you can peruse a variety of art media including ceramics, glass, painting, photography, sculpture, wood and more. All artwork on display is available for purchase and we encourage you to take this opportunity to purchase a new piece of art for your home, or gifts for friends and family, to show your support for our participating artists.
The Festival makes for a great family event, with many additional activities taking place during the day. An entertainment stage features an excellent line up of musicians with ongoing entertainment, and patrons can sample the many delicious food items and refreshments on sale from local food vendors.
Our Art Activities Area features fun activities for adults and children provided by a diverse group of arts organizations. Kids can also enjoy face painting and temporary tattoos. A performance stage features interactive storytelling, music, and performances by local artists.
We hope you enjoy your Holiday at the Labor Day Arts Festival.
CAN'T MISS CRAFT SHOW!
AmericanStyle magazine has recognized the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival in its "2007 Essential Guide to Fairs & Festivals" February 2007 issue. The Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival is mentioned as a "Can't Miss Craft Show" in the magazine's month-to-month calendar for weekends and getaways around the country. According to the AmericanStyle, "the calendar reflects fairs and festivals that have longevity and a national presence, and that partner with local universities, museums or art guilds. Every show listed offers a unique presentation of fine craft in the marketplace today. The organizations behind the shows have implemented rigorous jurying, allowing the most innovative, creative and technically skilled artists to exhibit."
BEHIND THE SCENES: PLANNING THE FESTIVAL
The coordinating committee has met and begun preparations for organizing this year’s event. The Art Activities committee is reviewing the activities offered to determine this year’s scheduled events. The festival jury will convene mid March. The Artists’ Management committee is working on updating the artists’ database, cataloging artists and making preparations for artists notification to be sent out in April. The Performances committee will review submittals from musicians for the event in May.
Be a part of the art and volunteer to join our efforts in planning this event by becoming a part of the Coordinating Committee. Call Lynette Santoro-Au at 583-5312 or email lsantoroau@uaoh.net to learn more. Of course the event itself would not be possible without the generous donation of time and talents from our many onsite volunteers-look for more details on how to be a part of the art check back in the Volunteer section of the Web Site.
