Financial DetailsFinance Department 614-583-5280 Upper Arlington Income Tax A two percent municipal income tax is imposed on anyone who earns income in the City of Upper Arlington as well as residents who earn income elsewhere but are not taxed within the district in which they work. An offsetting credit up to two percent is available when income tax has been paid to another municipality. Estimated quarterly payments are required when local income tax is not automatically withheld from income. All residents ages 18 years or over must file an income tax return with the City of Upper Arlington regardless of whether any tax is due. The deadline for returns each year is April 15. Income tax return forms can be obtained through www.ua-ohio.net, from the libraries, or by contacting the Tax Division at 583-5284. Property Tax Effective 2008, an annual tax rate of $69.09 per $1,000 valuation is charged for residential property in Upper Arlington. The assessed valuation is approximately 35 percent of the appraised market value of the property. The Franklin County Treasurer collects property taxes and remits the City its portion of $6.38 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. Sales Tax A 6.75 percent sales tax is imposed on taxable purchases in Franklin County. SOLID WASTE ANNUAL SERVICE FEE Effective April 2008, all Upper Arlington households are to be billed an annual service fee of $30 to help offset the basic costs for the provision of Solid Waste Services. This fee is to be invoiced in advance each spring. The fee applies to every household in Upper Arlington - including single family homes, apartments and condominiums. Residents can select optional “At the Door” Premium Service on their annual service fee invoice for an additional $150 per year. Households receiving Premium Service have their refuse collected at the door. Recycling and yard waste must still be brought to the curb.
