Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation
Click here for full details of the City's Parks & Recreation Department programs and activities, park facilities, special events and more.
The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for many of the excellent recreational and leisure programs and facilities that are available in our community, catering to all ages and interests. As an added convenience to residents, online registration is now available in several programming areas.
Focus on Fitness UA
The Parks & Recreation Department’s Focus on Fitness UA program was created to guide residents along the path to healthier lifestyles. The department already offers a full range of facilities and programs that provide countless health and wellness opportunities. Focus on Fitness UA highlights these opportunities – be it taking advantage of the active and passive recreation facilities in our parks, exploring a new activity like yoga, experiencing a cultural event such as a gallery exhibit, or learning how to cook quick yet healthy meals through LifeLong Learning.
The Focus on Fitness UA logo and icons representing five primary elements, are used in the City’s brochures, division newsletters, whenever an event or activity supports program goals.
- Focus on Activity – There are many ways to stay active in UA, from numerous sports leagues, aerobics and fitness programs, to walking through the parks and bicycling through the community’s beautiful neighborhoods.
- Focus on Mind –
An active and healthy mind is key to how well we age. LifeLong Learning classes stimulate the mind, be it learning a new language, improving your writing skills or taking up a musical instrument for the first time. The Senior Center places a special emphasis on keeping the mind busy, with computer classes, history lectures and more.
- Focus on Nutrition – Why not try a healthy cooking class through LifeLong Learning or the Senior Center, and mark your calendar to visit the Farmer’s Market each Wednesday in the summer months for a sampling of the best Ohio-grown fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Focus on Relaxation – Reading a book, breathing exercises, relaxing by a river or a nice leisurely walk are all ways to relax the soul. Find your inner peace through yoga classes, learning to paint or enjoying art exhibits at the Concourse Gallery.
- Focus on Wellness – Improve your personal wellness by getting a flu shot annually, using sunscreen when outdoors and wearing your seatbelt. Watch for details of partnerships with local health organizations to host community health screenings and other activities designed to prevent and/or quickly detect the early onset of disease.
