The City of Upper Arlington maintains its own local Board of Health but contracts with the Franklin County Board of Health (FCBH) Franklin County Board of Health as its service provider. All inspections and health services are performed by staff of the FCBH, under the direction of the Upper Arlington Board of Health.

The FCBH administers environmental, nursing and administrative services, monitoring environmental issues that could impact the health of citizens, and provides preventive health services aimed at maintaining and advancing good physical health.

Environmental Division
Investigates food service and preparation operations, sewage and water pollution, animal bites, litter and nuisance issues, plumbing construction, pest and rodent problems, as well as general environmental and safety issues as they arise. The division also offers laboratory services for ticks, mosquitoes, rabies, radon contamination, building and real estate needs, and basic environmental checks.

Nursing Division
Offers multiple programs to meet the basic health needs of residents, including immunization clinics for children and Senior Assessment Clinics, which provide health evaluations, nursing treatments, flu shots, counseling, referral and follow-ups for residents at least 60 years of age. The special needs of children with medical handicaps are met by using other community agencies and specialty teams to provide comprehensive care, home assessment, information and follow-ups.
